liveworks newcastle

client: brims construction

architect: flanagan lawrence

brief

I was tasked to showcase the building not just during daylight but particularly at twilight when it really comes alive. It was key to show the new building in amongst the existing heritage and landscape and also reflect its proximity to the bridges along the River Tyne

execution

I am always excited by the way a building looks when captured just before darkness during a time know in photography as the ‘blue hour’. I wait patiently for the precise day and time in order for the final images to be exactly as I imagine in my mind. I always aim to surpass the expectation of my client. Waiting in the historic courtyard surrounded by upmarket restaurants and bars I was entertained by the sounds of the city as the night began to draw in. Then just at the right moment in time I started to capture the building against the dark blue sky of twilight.

outcome

The images have been used for a successful award submission to the British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards 2019. Liveworks took home the coveted prize for best project up to 1500m2. I’m delighted that the images have been seen many times over and are used for the client Brims’ publications, website and for future bids and submissions.

feedback

“Really easy to deal with, have used Andrew since we started Brims. It’s at the stage now, where we don’t need to visit jobs very often with him, he knows what we want and need and we just need to tell him where to turn up and he sorts it for us”.
