bishop auckland heritage action zone
client: durham county council
brief
Bishop Auckland’s Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) has been created to improve the town’s historic centre and bring it back to being a vibrant market town for both locals and visitors. I was commissioned me to produce images of people who have in some way contributed to the HAZ by caring for historic buildings or passing on their knowledge to others.

execution
I captured images of people within their business or carrying out their tasks that contribute to the town’s heritage. The idea for black and white images came from the One North East ‘Passionate People Passionate Places’ campaign that ran in the 1990s. Every single person that was photographed were passionate about Bishop Auckland and it was a most pleasing commission.
outcome
The photographs will be used for display on town banners in Bishop Auckland as a celebration and to say thank you to the many people who have made and continue to make a difference.
