silsden primary school
client: galliford try
architect: rance booth smith
brief
Commissioned by Galliford Try this new school building is a three form entry school including nursery provision and playing fields on a sloping site in Silsden, West Yorkshire.
The client and architect were keen to demonstrate how the building fits in to the landscape with the shallow mono-pitched roofs following the natural gradient of the site.
In addition care had been taken to organise the classrooms along a light filled, double sided shared learning street/atrium, many with access to the exterior which was necessary to document in the photography.
execution
Careful planning with the school prior to the shoot was necessary so that we could depict the pupils interacting in the spaces. We utilised still cameras and drone aircraft to complete the ‘story’ of the school.
There are many areas with picture windows bringing the external natural landscape into the building which we depicted with the pupils using the breakout spaces.
outcome
Galliford Try, Rance Booth Smith Architects and Bradford City Council were all impressed with the final results which would be used for competition entries, future bids and case studies.
